Police Rescue Adebayo Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons After Gun Battle With Kidnappers in Oyo

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a fierce gun battle with suspected kidnappers in Oyo State.

The rescue operation, which took place around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, ended with the victims regaining their freedom unharmed after spending several days in captivity.

According to police sources, two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were killed during an exchange of gunfire with security operatives. Two firearms were also recovered from the suspects during the operation.

Mrs. John-Paul and her twin sons were abducted on the morning of June 3, 2026, while travelling to drop the children off at school, sparking widespread concern and calls for their safe return.

Security sources disclosed that the breakthrough was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering, strategic tracking of the kidnappers’ movements, and mounting tactical pressure by police operatives. The pressure reportedly forced the criminals into a confrontation that ultimately led to the successful rescue of the victims.

Meanwhile, security personnel have intensified operations in surrounding communities and forests to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate. Authorities believe some of the fleeing suspects escaped with gunshot wounds sustained during the gun duel.

The police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining gang members and strengthen security across the state to prevent further incidents of kidnapping and violent crime.
